"Welcome to Maple Ridge Vineyard."

If you are about ready to enjoy Lobster, Shrimp or Mussels, you will enjoy them much more with a matching Bourgogne Style wine from Maple Ridge Vineyard.  You can pay a fortune for a French Montrachet or enjoy an equally intense Chardonnay from Maple Ridge Vineyard aged in the same French Oak and made from the same clone, and harvested at a Draconian yield.

Located on a Ridge by Lake Erie, our micro-climate is very unique, warmer than Bourgogne, France.  Our clones are imported from Europe, and our barrels are 100% Allier Oak, mostly from Beaunne.  We harvest exceptionally low yields by design to obtain maximum flavor intensity.  Some vineyards get 10 or more tons per acre; we prune back to only 2 or 1 or sometimes 1/2 ton per acre.  A lot less wine, a lot more quality, and most of our wines compare to top crus from Bourgogne.  Our Pinot Noir is often made in the Gevrey-Chambertin style; our Chardonnays in the style of Montrachet (fermented and aged in $2,000 new French Oak Barrique of the highest quality, and constructed in the old world style); our Pinot Gris is White Bourgogne in style.  We also produce the most terroir expressive Cabernet Franc and Reisling wines.

SUSTAINABLE:  We use Navajo-Churro sheep and Chickens to fertilize our vineyard, dogs to keep the birds away, and old world style pruning to keep our yields at a minimum.  Our aereated compost teas produce a balance vineyard and vine as determined by periodic soil and foliar sampes at world quality laboratories.

We have worked with Ohio State University and SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Reseach and Education) using grants to improve our methods and our quality.  Please plan to visit us soon and take a tour.
